Mukundbhai R S Patel - President’s Address
I am profoundly proud and specially privileged to be able to introduce our new look
website.
I feel to be in a unique position of having been involved with the Society right
from the beginning and very much remember some of the inaugural meetings that set
up the scene that lay foundation for the Society in 1967-68. I would have been around
18-19 years of age then, initially providing general help in whatever capacity that
was required from me at that stage.

My involvement in senior position started with my appointment as Society’s
Treasurer in 1975, later serving as Auditor, Vice President and currently I have
been honoured to serve as President of DHASOL.
Over the forty years that I have been involved with DHASOL I have had a special
privilege of serving under various Presidents, Trustees and having worked with the
original founding members, office holders and general committee members.
The Society has progressed from being a small members’ self help group to
the current position, where as a registered charity we have raised funds for many
charitable and worthy causes helping in betterment of lives for citizens in the
United Kingdom (UK) and all over the world. We have organised special fund raising
events in aid of reconstruction of disaster affected areas following tragedies such
as earth quakes, floods and tsunami.
I trust that you will find this website an interesting read, in which we have attempted
to show you how the Society was formed and how it has progressed so far and what
our vision is for the future. Our vision is to primarily provide a central focal
point for our youth, using the newly acquired property, as well as promoting cultural
wellbeing.
We have so far served well upon the needs of our members but I hear calls from members
to promote our cultural activities involving greater participation of younger members
so that our culture and heritage are respectfully passed on. In view of these demands
we have purchased a semi commercial property that we believe will help us provide
a focal point towards achieving these objectives.
The future of our Society lies with our youth with whom we now need to work closely
so as to ensure that they are handed over proper ropes so as to enable them to carry
forward our culture and heritage.
I apologise in advance for any accidental omissions or inaccuracies which may have
occurred in this website and hope that you will understand.
With Best Wishes.
Mukund Rambhai Shivabhai Patel
President
